August Catching Up Post

Here's August.  It was a really fun month.  We made the best of the crazy part of the weeks while Doug was gone, then had lots of fun on the weekends.

To start off the month, we went down to Salt Lake to visit temple square.  Daxton gets so excited to see temples, so he loved that part.  We took him to the children's museum and he was not a fan of that...

My dad works for the church so we met him on his lunch break.

We also made a couple trips to Bear Lake.

The kids loved swimming!  I'm not always a huge fan of swimming, but I loved swimming with these two squishy kids.  There's something about a chubby baby in a pink swimsuit and an easily excited toddler, both with wrinkled fingers and toes and long eye lashes that look even more amazing when wet...  Just can't get enough.

Audrey laughed after being dunked under water.  Must be like her daddy.

Silly kid.

Doug's grandpa passed away on July 30th and his funeral was held on August 4th.  It was really inspiring to learn more about his life and all that he overcame.  He was a hard worker but knew how to have fun.  I left with a mental list of things I want to do during my lifetime and a few things I'd like to improve in myself.  He was a good man and we're grateful that he's no longer suffering, but we sure miss him!
Daxton sporting some road rash.  It made him look tough.

After the funeral, we went back up to Bear Lake to spend a little more time with the Henderson side of the family.
What? You don't let your baby sleep in the trunk on a hot summer day?

Daxton loves running through sprinklers.  I think running through sprinklers should always be on a summer bucket list.

When I look at this picture it makes me wish you could all hear Daxton's giggle.  It's the best.

Every summer we make a couple trips to Porcupine Dam.  It's kinda where Doug and I fell in love, so it's sortof tradition.  This time we took a fishing pole along.
Daxton tried fishing just like his dad, but didn't catch anything with his stick.  Better luck next time, Buddy.

She looks slightly cross-eyed, don't you think?
The next few pictures are from a visit to Willow Park Zoo.  Daxt and Audrey had lots of fun both at the park and looking at the animals.

All in all, August was a pretty good month and a great way to wrap up the summer.  The best part was that Doug finished his work in Vernal and came back home at the end of the month!
