A Name & A Blessing

“Every member of the church of Christ having children is to bring them unto the elders before the church, who are to lay their hands upon them in the name of Jesus Christ, and bless them in his name.” -Doctrine & Covenants 20:70

Audrey Ann Staker was blessed on March 6th and it was such a nice day.  Doug gave her a beautiful blessing and blessed her to be a righteous, happy, healthy, and strong girl.

After church, family gathered at our little home for Hawaiian Haystacks.

Cute Camri and her mom, Brittany.

Doug's sisters, Dana and Dixi, with sister-in-law, Britt.

Audrey wore a beautiful dress that was made by my Grandma Henderson.  The dress was originally made for my blessing day, but it was too big so I couldn't wear it.  My mom saved the dress and when I pulled it out of my hope chest, I fell in love with it!  I think it’s simple and classy and just what I wanted for my baby girl.  I love that Audrey was able to wear a dress that had a special meaning and history to it.  When my grandma found out that Audrey would be wearing the dress, she was thrilled.  And I’m happy that after putting so much work into such a sweet dress, she was able to see my baby girl wear it.

I feel bad because this is the only picture we had of my mom. Happened to be of her eating. Sorry Mom! She must have done a great job of hiding from the camera, and Brian and Karina did as well.  I didn't find any pictures of them, but we're glad they were there!

I think baby blessings are so sweet and I can’t help but tear up a little when I listen to a father take a new baby in his arms to give a name and blessing.  There is something so sweet about a new baby and I think it’s amazing how a baby can change a home.  We are so grateful to have the privilege of being parents.

We love baby Audrey and we’re grateful that family came up to celebrate the day with us.
